[x_custom_headline type=”left” level=”h4″ looks_like=”h4″]There are a lot of silly ghost stories that people love to tell at this time of year. And those stories are designed to produce fear in the hearts of people. But that is not what I want to share with you today. Instead, I want to focus on Holy Ghost stories. Because the Holy Ghost wants to be our Leader and our Guide, and He desires to lead us into God’s very best in every area of lives. [/x_custom_headline]

So if you will spend time listening to the Holy Ghost, your life’s story will be an entirely different story than it would have been otherwise. In fact, if you will apply the principles found in this short article, you will begin to have some Holy Ghost stories of your own to tell, as your list of testimonies gets longer and longer, and more and more powerful.

Let me begin with a verse that is critical to your understanding of spiritual things.

[x_blockquote cite=”John 16:7 KJV” type=”left”]“Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.”[/x_blockquote]

Jesus is preparing His disciples for the day He will return to Heaven by telling them that the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, will come once He departs. However, he uses a word that is essential that we grasp, and that word is “expedient.” The word expedient in this verse simply means, to your advantage. In other words, Jesus is telling us that once He departs for Heaven and sends the Holy Ghost then things will be to our advantage if we will give heed what the Holy Ghost tells us to do.

Now I don’t know about you, but I like it when I have the advantage. Just think of it; when you got up this morning, as a born again Spirit-filled child of God, you already had an advantage over everyone else in the world, who isn’t born again and Spirit-filled.

Next, let me draw your attention to another verse in this same chapter of John that is equally crucial for us to understand.

[x_blockquote cite=”John 16:13 KJV” type=”left”]“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”[/x_blockquote]

First of all, notice that He is the Spirit of Truth, not the spirit of error. So if we are truly listening to the Holy Ghost, He will always guide us according to the truth, which is the Word of God.

People come up with all sorts of crazy ideas and often call them the leading of the Holy Ghost, when it was not of Him at all. Make no mistake about it; if it is the Holy Ghost leading you in a particular direction or to do a certain thing, then it will always and without fail, line up with and fully agree with the written Word of God. Because if it doesn’t, then it isn’t the Holy Ghost that you are listening to.

Then Jesus tells us something else about the Holy Ghost. He said, “He will show you things to come.” In other words, there are stories about your future which the Holy Ghost already knows perfectly. You see, He has already been in your tomorrow and knows exactly what you need to do, where you need to be, what you must avoid, and so on.

And our part in all of this is that we must spend time listening to His voice. We must spend time in prayer and praying in the Spirit, waiting in His presence as He reveals and unveils the things we must know.

[x_blockquote cite=”1 Corinthians 2:9-14 KJV” type=”left”]“9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”[/x_blockquote]

There are things that you and I absolutely need to know that we are never going to find out any other way than by hearing them from the Holy Ghost. And it is when we receive this spiritually obtained information about those things which the Lord has already freely given to us that our story begins to change.

By listening to the Holy Ghost your unavoidable defeats become stories of victory. Your incurable sickness becomes a story of healing in the Name of Jesus. Your impossibilities become stories of possibilities through Christ Jesus.

Then think about all the horror stories the devil has been telling you about your marriage, your family and your finances. Yet by listening to the Holy Ghost, all of those areas of your life can become Holy Ghost stories of victory, too.

So how about it. Get serious about spending consecrated time with the Lord and I am sure that in ninety days, you’ll already have a few Holy Ghost stories of your own that you can share with others. And remember, listening to the Holy Ghost and obeying what He tells you to do, is to your advantage.
