Most Christians are not diligent about anything in their Christian walk, which explains why things often turn out the way they do in their lives. I hope this doesn’t describe you, because diligence in the things of God is of critical importance. Take a close look at this verse below, as an example of this.

“And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;” 2 Peter 1:5 KJV

DILIGENCE = to search out; enquire; to seek after; to investigate; to crave.

Diligence means to get after something quickly and not hesitate. It means that you are earnest about something, and eager to inquire about what God has promised, and eager to acquire what He has promised.

There are some things that we are to develop in in our Christian walk that helps us to grow strong in faith and to be pleasing unto the Lord. And it is these things that not only cause us to grow spiritually, but also allows us to truly enjoy the blessings that God has for us. One of these things, as we see in the verse above, is that we are to add the knowledge of God’s Word to our lives.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:” Hosea 4:6a KJV

You see, only a fool thinks ignorance is bliss! Yet many Christians are being destroyed because they have a lack of knowledge of God and His Word. What you don’t know can kill you! And this is why we must continually add the knowledge of God’s Word to our life without fail.

15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. 16 And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the Lord….” Jerehiam 3:15-16a KJV

A pastor is called by God to feed you the Word of God in such a way that you will increase in knowledge. And then, according to verse sixteen above, when you increase in knowledge, multiplication and increase in all of the other areas of your life are inevitable.

The more intimate your relationship with Jesus, the better you’re your life will become. And the level of peace you experience in your life is all determined by how much you know of God and His Word. But that’s not all. Good comes to those who are adding the knowledge of God to their life continually.

“But the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” Daniel 11:32b KJV

This is to be our testimony in these last days. However, the reason so many Christians are weak is because they have not pursued diligently the knowledge of God and His Word. Far too many people are skipping the church services where their answers are being revealed by their pastor as he ministers from god’s Word. But because they are absent, they lose out. We absolutely need our pastor sowing the Word of God into us continually, so that our knowledge of God is always increasing.

And notice also the exploits are done by those who are continually adding knowledge to their life.

“If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.” Proverbs 24:10 KJV

You will never experience any victories without also facing battles. However, if we give up and quit during these battles, it is because our strength is small. But what exactly does this have to do with knowledge, you’re probably asking? Well, go back to the fifth verse in this twenty fourth chapter of Proverbs and you will see.

“A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.” Proverbs 24:5 KJV

When we add knowledge in our lives, we will increase in strength. And with increased strength, we can stand until we experience victory.

The Bible is filled with the benefits that come to us as we grow in the knowledge of God and His Word. My prayer is that you will search them out as you continually seek to add knowledge in your life.
