[x_custom_headline type=”left” level=”h4″ looks_like=”h4″]“Be ready! There is coming a day when I am coming up to the church, I’m bringing a gun, and I’m going to kill you,” the caller said to me. It wasn’t the first death threat I had received during my years in ministry. You do take these threats seriously enough to take precautions of course, but when this demonically inspired individual called the church office and made this threat, I never really considered that he would make good on his promise. But he did.[/x_custom_headline]

You see, I know exactly what it is like to look an assassin in the eye, and live to tell about it!

So how exactly, are we to live in safety in the end-times, when terrorist attacks such as those which occurred in Paris a few days ago, as well as those filled with demons who have entered college campuses, movie theaters, and even churches, murdering and maiming people?

Well I am convinced that the first step is to develop strong and unwavering faith in God’s promises to protect you and keep you safely. God has a plan for your protection, but if you don’t know about it, you won’t experience it. If you don’t have faith for it, you will never see the benefits of those promises manifested in your life.

[x_blockquote cite=”Psalm 115:11 AMP” type=”left”]“You who [reverently] fear the Lord, trust in and lean on the Lord! He is their Help and their Shield.”[/x_blockquote]

It would have been awesome if God would have promised us that He would provide us with a shield of protection. But He didn’t. Instead, He promised to be our shield. The Almighty God is our shield of protection.

[highlight]What is a shield?[/highlight] A shield is a barrier set between you and trouble. A shield is your defense against the onslaughts of the enemy. For the enemy’s weaponry to get to you it must first get past the shield. It must defeat the shield. Since God is our shield of protection, how can the devil possibly defeat God? The good news is that he cannot.

However, far too many Christians live in such disobedience to God and His Word that they are not living a shielded life, but one wide open to the enemy instead. But it absolutely matters how you live. It matters what you say. It matters whether or not you are a doer of the Word or just someone listening to sermons. And it matters what you believe.

The truth is that most Christians live by what I like to call the “Doris Day Doctrine.” Those old enough to remember the actress Doris Day, will also remember that some of the lyrics to a song she made famous were:

*Que Sera, Sera

Whatever will be, will be

The future’s not ours, to see

Que Sera, Sera

What will be, will be

Thank God that isn’t what the Bible says. It is Satan that comes to steal, to kill and to destroy, not God. Jesus came to give us abundant life! Yet you couldn’t tell that by listening to many Christians talk. I grew up around Christians who were constantly saying things like, “Well, I just believe that if it’s my time to go, then it’s my time to go.” Believing and speaking such stupidity is a great way to invite crisis and calamity into your life.

[highlight]Let me say this again: It matters what you believe and what you speak.[/highlight] So, instead of saying foolish things that gives the enemy access, why not believe the promises of God for divine protection, and speak those promises over yourself and your family?

And there is something else connected to whether or not you life safely in the last days. It’s your tithes and offerings.

Tithing is a covenant connector. If you don’t tithe you are still operating in the world’s system. And what you must understand is that the world’s system is cursed (see Malachi 3:9 and Galatians 3:13-14). Now please understand that God is not cursing you if you don’t tithe. But you are living under a system that is cursed. And in that cursed world system is where all of the terror and calamity and evil are that Satan uses to attack God’s people with. Tithing provides you protection from the curse and from the devourer.

[x_blockquote cite=”Malachi 3:10-11 KJV” type=”left”]“Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.”[/x_blockquote]

For us to walk in the fullness of our redemption and enjoy the blessing of divine protection, we must stop operating as the world does. The world does not present tithes and offerings to the Lord and the work of His Kingdom, but then most Christians don’t either. And this is also why most Christians do not enjoy the benefit of the Lord’s protection from end-time peril.

A final point I would like to make is that every true believer needs to learn to be led by the Holy Spirit, and instantly obey His warnings (see Romans 8:14). I am convinced that Christians are supposed to be led by the Spirit of the Lord. And if we are led by the Spirit of God, He will provide us with a heads up to avoid a lot of pain and agony. I am further convinced that in every case in your life and mine where we did experience a catastrophe of some kind, the Holy Spirit had been warning us all along, we just didn’t listen.

“Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” John 16:12 KJV

How many times have you and I ignored the direction of the Lord because we thought what we were hearing was just us? It can be costly, even deadly to ignore the leading of the Holy Spirit.

I am convinced from what I see throughout the Bible that God has provided safety and protection for His people in the last days. So please don’t neglect this information but make whatever adjustments you must to live in obedience to God and follow the leading and warning of the Holy Spirit. Because it may very well save your life, or the life of someone you love.
