[x_custom_headline type=”left” level=”h4″ looks_like=”h4″]One of the first things a newborn baby ever learns is who his or her parents are. And although they will learn many, many things during their lifetime, God made it so that among the first is learning who his or her mother and father are for an important reason. It is because everyone is to be born into a family, not just born into the earth. Families matter to the Lord because He created them, they were His idea from the beginning.[/x_custom_headline]

Oddly enough, many born again Christians don’t really know their Heavenly Father, and this has had a profoundly negative impact on their Christian life and its effectiveness. You see, Christianity is not a religion, it is a family. And it is a family with a Father.

[x_blockquote cite=”Genesis 1:26-28 NASU” type=”left”]“26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”[/x_blockquote]

Almighty God is a loving Father who desired fellowship with His children. And God created mankind in His likeness, which means, “an exact duplication in kind.”

God created man to have a family. In fact, it was customary that God the Father would walk and talk with Adam and Eve in the garden in the cool of the day (see Genesis 3:8). However, it was sin that caused this relationship to be broken, and this fellowship with the Heavenly Father to cease.

What you may not realize is that God the Father desires to build a relationship with us, His born again children, and fellowship with us every day through His Word. Let’s look at what Jesus said about this in the book of John to give us further understanding.

[x_blockquote cite=”John 14:23-24 NASU” type=”left”]“23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. 24 “He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.”[/x_blockquote]

The word “keep” in the Greek means: “To guard from loss or injury by keeping the eye upon.” Then obviously you have to stay focused on the Word of the Lord and not allow any of it to slip past you because you have lost your grip on it (see Hebrews 2:1).

We fellowship with the Father and demonstrate our love for Jesus by feeding on and reading your Bible every day. And when you do this, the Amplified Bible says that Jesus and the Father will make their home, or “special dwelling place,” in your heart.

It is also by this constant focus on the Word of your Father God that causes faith to arise within you, and how it will grow stronger and stronger.

According to this verse twenty-four in the passage above, anyone who neglects the Word of God and refuses to keep their focus on it and apply it to their life, does not really love Jesus, and is basically rejecting what the Father has to say. Jesus is providing to us a very serious warning here that we must not gloss over.

It is absolutely impossible to have a relationship with someone if you are not interested in what they have to say. So, since God’s means of speaking to us is through His Word, neglecting your Bible is proof that you are disinterested in knowing the Heavenly Father more intimately.

And in addition, no one with overcoming faith, which is exactly the kind of faith that you will need in these last days, rejects the Father’s Word.

[x_blockquote cite=”Matthew 4:4 AMP” type=”left”]“But He replied, It has been written, Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.”[/x_blockquote]

In the same way that a natural loving father would provide the proper food and nourishment for his child, the Heavenly Father does the same for us through His Word. In fact, look at what the Prophet Jeremiah said about this.

[x_blockquote cite=”Jeremiah 15:16 NASU” type=”left”]“Your words were found and I ate them, And Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; For I have been called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts.”[/x_blockquote]

When Jeremiah feed on the Word of God, it caused great joy within him and he rejoiced over it. God’s Word will do the exact same thing for you!

When you choose to live in the Word of the Heavenly Father, you are actually living in Jesus, and the Word of the Heavenly Father becomes more and more a part of you. In fact, we must spend so much time in the Word of God that we actually become saturated with it.

What a great impact fellowshipping with the Father through His Word every day will have on your life! You were created to fellowship with Him, so go after it with all that is within you. Then watch as your life rises to new heights as you do.
