[x_custom_headline type=”left” level=”h4″ looks_like=”h4″]Did you ever read about the time where God told Moses to send twelve spies into the Promised Land to check out how awesome the land was that He said He had given to His people, in Numbers chapter thirteen? Moses was specifically told to select twelve leaders from among the people, a leader from each of the twelve tribes. So Moses didn’t select the biggest losers from among God’s people but the cream of the crop. At least that is what everyone would have thought they were.[/x_custom_headline]

However, while in the land of promise, they were able to confirm that everything that God said about the land was true. But they also noticed that there were giants there, too. So when they returned to give their testimony regarding what the land was like, ten of the twelve spies put the major focus of their report on how big the giants were, and how impossible receiving what God promised to them would be. Instead of giving a report of faith, according to the promises of God, they chose to infect the people of God with an evil report of hopelessness and defeat.

[x_blockquote cite=”Numbers 13:32-33 KJV” type=”left”]“32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. 33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.”[/x_blockquote]

[x_blockquote cite=”Numbers 14:1 KJV” type=”left”]“And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.”[/x_blockquote]

Because there were giants in the land the people gave up on the promises of God. They just gave up and quit on what God said He would do in their lives all because there were giants in the land. Sadly, this is a habit with most Christians, too.

“I didn’t realize that I would have to be a giant killer to experience the manifestation of God’s promises,” is what many people declare. In other words, they would prefer to do without God’s best for their life, than to have to stand up with the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and run every adversary off that comes against them.

Like God’s people of old, many today would rather hide out in caves and pits, than to take a stand in faith and refuse to waver or give up in the face of contradictory circumstances.

[x_blockquote cite=” 1 Samuel 13:6 KJV” type=”left”]“When the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait, (for the people were distressed,) then the people did hide themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.”[/x_blockquote]

You have to ask yourself, which of these titles best fits you: Cave Dweller or Giant Killer?

If you develop the habit of running from the enemies of your life every single time you face opposition, then you will eventually hide in caves with the cowards. But the best option by far is to rise up and take your place with the true men and women of God, who are willing to do everything it takes to be a giant killer, and enjoy the blessing of the Promised Land.

Giant killers are not looking for a Plan B option or a cave to run to. Instead they stand upon the Word of God and refuse to back off, ever. They don’t compromise, they don’t get weary in their well doing, and they don’t make excuses, period.

There are too many people who don’t go all the way. They start and stop, and then start and stop some more. There are too many people who turn back and they are flat failures. If you are going to be successful and kill your giants and possess the promises God has made to you and your family in His Word, then the first step you must take is to be faithful.

No one is ever victorious in the battles of life who hasn’t first conquered the things in their life where they have been unfaithful. Because having a track record of faithfulness will make your courageous!

Something else I have learned about giant killers is that they are continually advancing in the things of God. Don’t stay stagnant. Don’t stay ignorant. And don’t stay little. Instead, do what true giant killers do, and grow, increase and advance.

And you will never kill giants if you are afraid of bunny rabbits. To kill the giants that are opposing you and trying to keep you out of the Promised Land, you will have to get rid of all fear. Refuse to be afraid.

David was a giant killer. He went after Goliath head on. He didn’t even flinch. And the reason for this is because he had gained some experience by defeating the lion and the bear before he ever encountered Goliath.

[x_blockquote cite=”1 Samuel 17:34-37 KJV” type=”left”]“34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: 35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. 36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. 37 David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee.”[/x_blockquote]

David was unafraid. He ran to the battle. He ran all by himself. He ran toward a whole army unafraid. And he had the courage to do this because he never backed down when he faced lesser enemies.

The way of the coward it to run and hide in a cave and wait for the threat to pass. But the way of the giant killer is to run to the adversary without hesitation, take him out, and then possess the fullness of what God promised you in His Word. Are you a cave dweller or a giant killer?
